On-call to Hell

Hrm. On-call this evening (the person who is SUPPOSED to be on-call is off sick), so let's see if I end up being here until almost midnight (from 5:30pm O_o) AGAIN tonight. Last thursday was CRAP. I think I managed to be at home for ooh let's think AN HOUR (excluding sleeping, which doesn't count, but c'mon). And 99% of what I had to do was stuff that oh guess what, they had in their cupboards and just hadn't actually LOOKED for. REAL GREAT USE of an emergency out of hours service there, then. *grrs*

This hassle is NOT worth the money I get paid for it - especially when it requires that I fork out £15 on taxi fares that I can't claim back.

I don't suppose there's any way you can make them look again for stuff before you have to taxi in, is there?

Hm. They don't let you claim travel expenses?

Well, I probably COULD refuse to go in until they've looked again, but then sometimes they HAVE run out of stuff (like when A&E ran out of tissue glue), but eh. At least I didn't get called out again that evening - AND I managed to catch the bus without having to wait an hour because I JUST missed it (like usually happens), because the driver was out having a fag. So hurrah for smokers, for once.

We USED to be able to claim travel expenses, but the people who drove in weren't allowed to, so now no-one can. It's a bugger. :P
