Kirin are "oriental unicorns" - that is, it's what they look like, and what the bulk of the OMG-LIEK-TOTALLY-DRAW-ME-A-KIRIN-PLZ-KTHX!-brigade know them as. (They're more dragonly/scaly than the average scrotty little goaty- *cough* flowing beautiful white horse Western unicorn, punish the wicked with their horn, and protect the good and just.)
