Someone tell me: short of making everything pornographic, and mentioning it all the time, how do I make my fiction interesting enough that more than about 7 people actually want to read it? :P

Plus, she says, when she should be in bed, asmeeping, how do you make a character good enough that a person will CARE about them enough to WANT to read about them? (Rach, you seem to have got it down pat, what with Spider and all that. *le sigh*) I would happily sacrifice 50% of my drawing ability just for someone or two to NOTICE (and for the merits of the character itself, rather than just the aesthetics).

At gunpoint.

Oh, you meant the fiction itself... Couldn't say, I can't even keep myself interested in my own work...
All I can say; finish it, find a good editor, a good publisher, and hope for the best.

Do keep in mind that people's interests are subjective. It will be impossible to keep everyone's attention with it. Conversely, some people may like it without your even having to try. In theory, everything has an audience. You just need to find yours.

The reason why porn has seems to have an advantage here is that people go looking for it, as opposed (or possibly in addition) to the reverse...

Actually it's touch and go with me when it comes to people flocking to read my stuff, if how my stories are recieved on FF.net is any indication.

No-Tongue...he's becoming fast a favorite with the readers there.

Trazu...I have to practically beg people to even read his fics (cause everyone wants to only read/write stories about canon characters and their various 'pairings' *shudder*)

In Trazu's case though I am likely just targeting the 'wrong' kind of audience for it.

Gah...I must have forgotten to take off the 'use as default' tab for that icon when I uploaded it...

Mind you, No-Tongue isn't exactly "canon" (or remotely "normal" :P) when it somes to Xenomorphs, either, is he?

Well if you look at all of my fanfics...'none' of my 'canon' related characters are 'normal'. ;)
