Why is it that whenever anyone draws what a robot/android/whatever sees, they put all text and crud down the side of the "screen" and targetting scanners and shit? You'd think that a creature smart enough to be a (semi-)sentient computer intelligence wouldn't NEED all that sincxe there's no human to see it - it'd all be autonomous. Like, there wouldn't be visual "major system status: 99%" since it'd just KNOW that, in the same way you'd just KNOW if you felt like crud or whatever.

Hrufh.

You're right. It's only for the benefit of the audience.

1) Because it shows off the "visionary skills" of their intreptation of the display, 2) To remind the audience that the veiw is from a robot, and 3) Because most people still think of robots as moving computers, and thus, must have some screen/interface.

And quite possibly because they never gave it that much thought, though I'd say one of the above three. It could also be case of humanizing things again, since they're imagining what it would be to look through it's "eyes". Combine this with #3 and you get the concept of a person "looking through" a computer screen.

Now if it was a cyborg, it could be valid...
