keaalu: (Happy Forceps)
I noticed a couple of days ago that it's been close to a month since my last post, on here. (Surprised me a little that it had been so long, actually.)

Part of it can be blamed on the creeping junk heap (read: my flat) I have been trying to tame. Every time I work on something, a little bit of it gets left out in the living space, and eventually it all takes over, so I've been trying to tidy it all away and trow out some of the endless piles of stuff I will never use in the process. So that's taking up a lot of my time.

The other half of the blame goes to... the fact I seem to have completely lost the ability to write even a semi-intelligent blog post. For the last two weeks I've been trying to write a "happy birthday Dauntless" kind of post, as it's the 10th birthday (10 years!) of my little series, and it reads more like a year five schoolchild's project report.

"I did this then I did this then this happened and blah."

For all the enjoyment I get from writing (and the years and years of practice I've had at it), I still can't write a good blog entry. *le melodramatic sigh* Maybe once I've come up with a sensible structure for the post that doesn't scatter concepts all over the place, I'll be happy enough with the entry to post it. (...If you don't see it appear in the next couple of weeks, you can probably assume I gave up on it.)

(All right, I confess, maaaybe earlier I was reading some excellent posts discussing asexuality, and I'm feeling envious of the posters' writing skills.)

Photographs

Well, I WAS going to upload some photographs to my Flickr, this lunch time - they've started to demolish the old Crane foundry near where I live - but the hospital internet connection is misbehaving and I imagine I'll have to just wait until I go home tonight. :(

At least I can post some other photographs on here. :)

A different kind of flying doom. Not content with troughing all the food itself, my pigeon has now started bringing a little friend along.
Pigeons, part deux Pigeons, part deux
Oh, there's two of you? Great. I'll just make plans to spend even MORE money on food for you to throw all over the place.
Pigeons, part deux, 2 Posessive pigeon
I'm not sure if he's making a point to me, by standing IN the food tray. THIS IS MY FOOD, GO AWAY. Is that really necessary? :P
Pigeons, part deux, 3 Pigeons, part deux, 3
Pigeons, part deux 4 Pigeons, part deux, 4
That bird has REALLY BIG, creepy pupils. ¬_¬

And a little more of the garden!
More daffodils in bloom! More daffodils in bloom!
I was so pleased to see more were coming out and NOT DYING that I took another photo, haha. And see in the top corner? I interrupted someone's supper, s/he didn't realise I was there - and I didn't realise HE was there until after he'd already flown away.
Robin! Robin!
"Hmm, I'm sure there was a brown blob in that last photo, but it's gone." *flick through photos on camera* "OH, it was a bird!" I'm sure he was somewhat disgruntled by the fact I was in his way.
Clematis Clematis
The resurrected clematis. It spent all winter as a dry brown mostly-snapped-off stick and I was just preparing to dig it out and put a new one in... and it must have heard me, because it's gone crazy over the last couple of weeks. I need to secure it to the fence with some wire, because it blows a gale across here and it'll only get snapped off again.

And finally... at last, after years of not having a camera with me at the right time, I caught her on camera.
Dauntless Dauntless!
Seeing my little space-ship in bus form always amuses me, in an "I went home on Dauntless today! XD" kind of way.
The same way it's not JUST a blue Subaru Impreza, when I see one, it's Slipstream.
Dauntless, closeup Dauntless, closeup
"Oh, you're not a bus geek are you?" one of my colleagues I catch the bus with says, when I get on after her.

Authors are such misunderstood creatures. *melodramatic swoon*

Edit: Rrgh, why does LJ make it so hard to find the pics/galleries management page?

Maaagpie

Maaaaagpie. Dauntless, transformed!
Or... something... yes. Well, she's already self-aware and projects herself by hologram, this was the logical next step! :D
It's just a shame she's so freakin' HUGE.
I could make a pun about her being shipshape, but I won't. I know, I got a couple of bits wrong way round, but eh, I was watching TV at the time, not referencing any of it...

Notes, nootes. For #14 ''Darkling''. Mediciney-oriented, hurrah. )

I need to update my ElJay icons later, too. Hrm. Wonder how quick I'll get THAT done. </sarcasm>

Oh come on, how can you POSSIBLY suspect he might be UP TO SOMETHING...?

This post requires that I add something important before I start it, so this is me adding it...

...Because I've actually added a NEW, NEVER BEFORE SEEN chapter of Avocet. I'm nowhere near being over my writer's block, but eh, I'm getting there.

There. Now THAT's out of the way I can get on with the post itself.

First some arts! AGAIN trying to carry off a drawing I've already done half a dozen times in the past... )

And now for something completely different!

''Ride the Avocet'', chapter 18! )

We now return you to your scheduled broadcast.

MOO

Been thinking about making some of those "Moo" cards for PROPER, since I applied for the promo pack of 10. Working on a "Windchaser" design (you know, like my website, dark green with yellow text and etc?), but thinking I made my text too small - I mean, these cards are pretty wee, ne? (I haven't actually GOT the free cards yet*, but I was bored at work one lunchtime and made a template to show how unbig they are.) Don't want the writing to be all illegibles. Anyway. Anyone got any ideas for what I should put on 'em?

So far, these are the ''Windchaser'' designs... )

(* I've been hearing good things about these cards and WOULD like to have a set to use a bit like unusual business-cards. I might get some proper business cards done at some point. But this is all once them free ones have arrived, anyway... blah. I got in towards the end of the promotion, because I don't have a paid journal and only found out about it when all the other free ones did, so of course mine are still held up in "printing", and have been since 25th May. Ohwell.)

And in other news, have some other artings (cut for space) )

Just been thinking about "Kirasiinu" and their "relatives". Pulled together some new words and new terms, finally got the ideas I've had circling for weeks down on paper.

Words, words, words. Kirasiinu, Lerisiinu, Leriisamu, Umasiinu, Umasamu... etc. Wordy and boring, but eh. )

Edit: Just a small update to the "Kirasiinu" section. Some more thoughts.

Siinueri. (pic) )

Edit: Update! Sei's little "personal project" has now acquired a name: she is "Mirii" (pronounced a little like "Marie"). Pics later! Yay. Well, pic of her after he'd painted her, anyway, as right now in my notes she's still a "blank canvas", a really pure brilliant white. Working on a drawing of the "in-progress" bit (the actual Sei-with-paintbrush bit), so far dubbed "Masterpiece". Whee!

Still need to think of a name for the cob that later adopts Mirii, though. The pen is "Aemi" (like "Ay-eemi", but one syllable), but her husband (a retired military commander) is giving me problems. I may have to fire up the "random word generator."
