This post requires that I add something important before I start it, so this is me adding it...

...Because I've actually added a NEW, NEVER BEFORE SEEN chapter of Avocet. I'm nowhere near being over my writer's block, but eh, I'm getting there.

There. Now THAT's out of the way I can get on with the post itself.

First some arts! AGAIN trying to carry off a drawing I've already done half a dozen times in the past... )

And now for something completely different!

''Ride the Avocet'', chapter 18! )

We now return you to your scheduled broadcast.

Ivies. Doodlage. (Image under cut) )

I was going to do one of those silly memes, but fft, I realised all my answers would be "no", "what?" or "what's one of them?"

Alternative Angel

Depending on what happens, I may or may not do anything further with this - a) it'll be really hard to cut out, and b) I'm sure the background is going to drown out the picture. :( Oh well, we'll see.

Yes, I AM fully aware that angel wings are horribly overdone and meh, but pfft. It fits her personality, sothere.

Incidentally, this may be of vague interest to some people: a comparison between the original, done in 2004 (I think...?), and the above one.
Comparison - the old and the new

Edit: hrf, for some reason the .gif isn't showing up. Never mind.
Edit2: Oh, now it is again. Hrf.

Dauntless again

Sporadic Dauntless-y update.

Been thinking about voices - not sure if I said so before - and which voice suits which character. Not got too many pinned down, but anyway... Lena is sweetly husky, rather soulful (the singer "Beverly Knight" always reminds me of Lena, although her voice is rather too high - or perhaps KT Tunstall).
James Morrison reminds me of Onyx.
The main singer for "Black Box Recorder" seems fitting for Ivy - although I've only heard one of their songs ("Facts of Life") and it may just be coincidence. And the name is eerily fitting. ;)
The only voice I ever considered for Ren was old whats-his-face, Star Wars jedi man... *thinks* Ewan McGregor. And NOT for the Jedi thing - but from when I saw him on Moulin Rouge. The voice was just right. Make of that what you will. :P

And... Working on a new profile for Vee )

omg, emo. :P

Some day I may post my notes on my Quick'n'Dirty Chicken Satay, but right now I don't have the energy.

Iios

The Jade God himself seems to finally be growing up a bit - he's been back in my forebrain for a while this past few days and he hasn't seemed quite SO outrageous so far. Granted, the peacock tail was a bit silly (he wants to wear it on duty, but Eri says no-... He probably will, though. :P ), but perhaps getting a command back was all he needed - Synth get bored when all there is to do is pick pockets to finance their lifestyle and swank around at fancy parties.

Iios, profile )

Related art may come soonish, if I get my accounts up to date and dig up some motivation. :)

I'm also trying to rewrite Ivy's profile a bit, since she never really had a "personality" in there - although I think I'm being influenced by my music. The group "Lamb" always reminds me of her - especially the tracks "Gorecki", "Stronger" and "Please"; I think it's because there's a beauty and an essential sorrow/longing in a lot of their music, which is how Ivy is turning out. :( And I don't mean in an "emo" way either - hers has always been a sort of quiet, patient, undemanding sorrow. She's been burned sufficient times that she just... accepts it. A sort of "why bother" attitude. She was never this way when I first "met" her - she was cheerful and happy to do whatever. Now, I don't know. It must be a terribly lonely life for her kind. Maybe that's why she always seems to fit that "angel" stereotype - quiet, patient, loving, always alone, and posessed of an eerie, smiling melancholy.

Although I should probably change my CD, because Lamb always makes me feel like crying for no reason whatsoever. :P It just... gets to me.

OMG LIEK CUTE (Edit: and yes, that *IS* Ivy, just... les biped than normal. ;) )

No, I don't know either. It just said "draw me!" so I did.

I just realised Ivy has acquired a new nickname, as well - started out calling her Ivory, then she became Ivers/Ivy, and now I've called her "Vee" a few times in my writing. OH WHERE WILL IT ALL END.

In other "news", I have THREE FRICKIN' PARAGRAPHS left to write on a story that I started back in 2001, and I CAN'T FRICKIN' MAKE THEM SOUND RIGHT. ARGH. *flail* I SHALL get it finished tonight if it KILLS me.

(PS Bill Bailey rules. I must investigate whether "Part Troll" is on DVD or something)

I gave in. :P

Character meme thinger )

Unrelated: Why is Napster so shit? I mean, let's face it; what's the point in my paying to download tracks, if a week or two later I get the message "that track is currently unavailable on the Napster service" *OR* "Upgrade to Premium for licence acquisition". EXCUSE ME, I DID MY DUTY to artist rights/copyright and BOUGHT those tracks, now stop trying to wring MORE money out of me, fucktards!
