Electronic Aliens? Robots from other worlds, and extra-special andriods?
I think that's pretty much what we expect from you at this point. Still nice art though, even if it did take you forever. Can I assume the Plaits tutorial is somehow related to this>
I meant we can expect things besides androids, but I doubt she'll stop anytime soon. Of course, I'll learn to stop trying to speak on her behalf at some point, but until then, I'll just have to hope she doesn't know where I live or travel much.
As long as I have partial attention, I'm curious - Provided I may ask, which part is it you love about androids? The actual components of complex circuitry and delicate programming, the intricacies of dealing with a fully assembled artificially developed life form, or just the derivations from a standard organic being? Provided Keaalu doesn't go after me for bothering yet another one of her friends... *hides behind a dresser*
Heh, I don't mind those questions, as I love to answer them!
Asking me which part of androids I like is like asking me what part of chocolate tastes good. I think androids, synthoids, and "anthroids" (furry and scalie androids) are as close to the most perfect being as I can imagine. I love the complexity, I love the whole factor of them being more than what they seem (they look organic, yet they have stronger, more capable bodies and minds), I love the psychological implications of the different kinds of them (ones that live among us, ones that are programmed for pleasure or menial labor, etc.), and also, to put it in the tamest words I can, I simply have been infatuated with them since birth for reasons I can't explain, much like Keaalu here. :)
Hey, feel free to talk to me more on the subject, I never get tired of it. :D
Hm.... On that note. First, as long as metaphors are being used, it's possible to pinpoint what one likes about chocolate because there are many different styles...
So, if we try some examples - Namely, would it be the same if there was a robot that was state-of-the-art-tech, fully mechanical, with a digitized brain, but the mind and consciousness of a human or some other such organic being? What about a fully organic body that was overwritten with a high-grade AI? Does the scope, capabilities, or self-awareness of any such AI factor in? Is it not the same if there isn't an AI at all, rather, an android by remote control so to speak? What if there was no circuitry, electricity, no mechanized parts or joints, no microchips or processors in it at all, but still a fully artificially created body and consciousness that was still inorganic - And yes, that is possible, in theory at least. Or fantasy - take your pick.
What I'm more curious to, rather, is where you feel they exist in terms of individuality. Is a servant AI in a workbot still count as an AI, as an individual, even if it limited to direct programming and has no learning or self-awareness? Would it's programming count as personality? If a robot is incapable of self-change, does it still count as cognizant? And to what extend should an artificially induced mind differ from a grown organic one? Would a self-aware AI always consider itself above tradition organisms? Would it be possible for an inferiority complex to develop as well?
The second set's a bit off from the original queries, yes. But I'm still quite curious, and I'm sure you have opinions on at least some of this...
OMG LIEK STOP TALKING TO OTHER PEOPLE IN MY LJ AEGIS OMFG *FROTHS AT MOUTH*
Seriously, no worries - this is the intarwebs, man, peace and love and all that. Plus, if I didn't want other people talking in my LJ, I'd put up big signs and disable comments. ;)
I've heard the term "electronic alien" before, probably from the same place that you have (since you've drawn the horns and ears almost the same way). Are they really synthoid beings? That one guy, the blue guy (I forgot his name) was rather sexy, I think. :D
To be honest, I don't know, really - Sunny Colaneri (the owner of the concept) did a journal entry ages ago inviting other people to create characters, and I took her up on it, but that's all I really know. They're electrically-based aliens, but I'm still not sure how "roboty" they are.
