keaalu: Clear icicles dangling down on a chilly background (Icicles)
I think the world and his dog were in front of me in the Post Office, yesterday lunchtime, and everyone (not even joking) had a parcel to post. ¬_¬ Including one woman who had a whole massive Santa's sack Sainsbury's jute bag full, each one going to a different country - I think she was at the counter the whole time I was there, and I was in the place for almost half an hour, and I heard her quite loudly mention Canada, Germany and Australia.

BUT! I managed to get to the front of the queue before my lunch ran out, and everything going to foreign climes has been posted! (The only one I have left to post is to a UK destination, and that needs me to finish something off so it should be in the post tomorrow.)

Keep an eye on your postie, haha! XD And hopefully you'll all get things this side of Christmas, unless customs sucks it in.

Christmas Cards!

keaalu: Three colourful speech balloons (Coloured balloons)
I have received my cards! (And they're all smooth and colourful, yay.)

I also have... the last recommended posting dates for around the world. So! I need to get them posted by:
Monday 10 December: Eastern Europe, USA and Canada
Wednesday 12 December: Western Europe

For those people who would like a card, please raise your hand and say "aye"... and make sure I have your address! XD I probably have a few people's in my address book from a couple of years ago, but please drop me a line anyway. Same email address as it's been for the last few years: keaalu at gmail dot com. (I've set this journal to screen all comments too, but I think email is probably more secure.)

I have some good news, and bad news.

Good news is, I actually finished the picture(s)! And have sent it off to get the cards printed up, so there should be no TIME MANAGEMENT = NO CARDS failure on my part this year.

Bad news is? I've spent so many hours working on it (I'm talking ...at least 20 hours, and about 50% of that was fighting to get the pencils looking better than half-assed), I officially can't stand looking at it any more. >_< I hope my opinion of it improves before December.

Christmas Card angst

This rant is mostly hyperbole - I just felt the need to vent.

Those of you who have said "yes!" to a Christmas Card? You may just get cute nonchristmassy alien critters instead of my original idea, because I am seriously doing my nut trying to get this drawing to look right. >_< *shakefist*

I have spent hoooouuuuurrrs on the pencils and I'm still not satisfied. I should have probably suspected it was a bad idea when the mirror I was using to flip the image, to check the anatomy, slid off the table and broke. ¬_¬

It's got to the point now where I'm allllmoooost satisfied. *crosses fingers* I think I have spent the last two hours on: scan, resize, flip, examine, swear, tweak drawing, re-scan, lather rinse and repeat. It's taken me five hours to realise that uh, the reason one character looks so strange is that he seems to exist on AT LEAST THREE separate planes, none of which line up. *headdesk*

On a related note... I wish the printers would make up their mind what size the cards were meant to actually be. You go to the Christmas cards page, and they give you the option to select by size: 5"x7" or 4"x8". I'm not sure why they quote the sizes in inches, because everything else on the site is in mm, but whatever, I didn't design the site. So, I selected 5"x7", as these cards are folded. And it goes to the page for 182mmx117mm.

182x117 =/= 5"x7"
¬_¬

As soon as my sample robin cards arrive, I'm getting a friggin' ruler out.

Edit: And on the subject of robins... Woo! SHIPPED

Robin Cards

It started out as a desire to make some cute address/parcel stickers with my snuggly robins (from my 2009 card) on them. It turned into "well, what if I make them into Christmas Cards as well?"

So, I have turned them into cards. :) No, these aren't the cards I'm working on for people this year. These are just a "look how prepared I am this year! (haha tell yourself that enough and you may believe it)".

I've been thinking I might recycle my "bauble" icon into a sticker at some point, as well, as I just found the pencils of the original; I remember creating it for a stupid deviantART project a few years ago - you were supposed to draw a bauble, and submit it to the public gallery, and they'd make a giant picture featuring "every single bauble submitted!"

All except mine. I looked at that damn picture for hours, finding everyone else's pictures, but I never did find the one I submitted. :(

Very excited!

Two exciting things have happened this week! XD (And no, I'm not talking about my two days off, because it'll actually be three days come tomorrow.)

Thing one: I have been sent awesome giftart!
Trice Trice by Anna Ghislaine ([livejournal.com profile] garedeuropa/Website)
I love the whole painterly style to this, and the way it's all glowwy; I've always enjoyed her bright, almost surrealist cartoony style, and of course predilection for monsters and weird creatures. (Original link)

Thing two: Guess what I found on my doormat when I got home yesterday!
Pics under the cut! )
Lastly: Christmas Cards!
I have been rubbish at getting them ready on time for the last two years, so I've started creating them already for this year. Show of hands - anyone want one?
keaalu: (Xmas foxie!)
HAHAHA I haven't just totally spent all evening going OMG CHRISTMAS CARDS instead of working on my NaNo, nope nope nope! *HALO*

I know - I always leave it until the last minute. BUT STILL. I HAVE A WEEK OF ANNUAL LEAVE LEFT, I CAN NAIL THIS!

...anyone want one? :) *needs to know if she needs to order more than 10 this year XD*

(I'll ask people for addresses later, once I've, I don't know, MADE THE CARDS, I suppose? You don't need to put addresses in this post - just a "yay" or a "nay". ^_^)

Happy Merry ^_^

I've been waiting for people to get theirs in the post, but this is getting on for the last day I'll be able to post it and it to still be before Christmas Day, sooo....

Happy Christmas 2009 :)

(edit: whoops, url fail. Fix'd!)

ROLL CALL!

keaalu: (CAAKE)
No, not for cake!

CHRISTMAS CARDSSS.

Who wants one? Same dealie as last year, I don't need/want anything in return, there's no strings attached, I just like sending people cards. IT'S FUNN. Soooo you can either post here with your address (unless you had one last year and haven't moved and I already have your address and all that blabla) or email me or whatever. Post will be screened so not everyone sees the address*.

Um, no, I haven't finished actually making them. ¬_¬ I STILL HAVE LEFTOVERS FROM LAST YEAR HA HA No seriously I'm making new ones. ;) (And HA HA yeah I'm quite gonna beat the last posting date before Xmas. 10th DECEMBER, wtf Royal Mail? -_- *is dead*)

...one day I'll be, you know, pleased with how they look. :P

* - Edit: IF I REMEMBER HOW TO TURN IT ON damnit. *clicks the right button, this time*

XD

One of my work colleagues* gave me a lift in to work today. Wow, how interesting you say. ¬_¬ But!

What was her car? A souped-up boy-racer-blue Nissan Skyline.

CAME TO WORK IN SLIPSTREAM TODAY§.

I WAS LOL'ING FOREVER.

(* - well, she's a phleb, so we see each other out on the wards ;) And she lives opposite me, so we usually get the bus together.
§ - ok, ok, Nissan Skyline =/= Subaru Impreza. BUT. THE ENGINE, RAWR. AND THE BLUUUUE.)

Edit: Oh! OH! I need to start getting my Christmas Cards ready. ("What?" you say. "IT'S NOT EVEN OCTOBER, YOU SILLY BINT.")

I KNOW IT'S EARLY. BUT! I need to DESIGN THEM and I always end up fart-assing about with them for months, and never get them done (to my satisfaction) in time. They always end up being a last-minute rush job, and I don't want them to beeee.

So. Ideas? (The "who wants one" roll call will come later ;) )

Roll Call!

Okay, I'm going to talk about something other than NaNoWriMo for a very brief moment. ;) Christmas Cards! :) I'm going to try and get them designed this weekend (as I have a weekend off at long last, WOOHOO) so I can get 'em printed, and I wondered who'd like one? I know there's two people, but this is my proper roll-call-type-post-thing.

FAQ:
Yes, I'll probably upload the art ANYWAY so people can have a look even if they don't want a card.
Yes, I'm happy to send them overseas.
No, I don't need people to tell me their addresses right NOW, if they want one, I just want to get an idea of how many to get printed.
No, I don't expect you to feel obliged to send one back. No strings attached, just a card. :)
No, I have no other things to mention.

WHEE, CARDS. EXCITING POSTALAGE.
