Character meme thing

I gave in. :P
1. What is your character's name?
First, in what language?
Ivy, short for Ivory (as she’s white, duh), but she answers to Ivo’reah, Bluefrost, Iivorii and “Snowflake” (but the latter only from friends…)
2. What kind of character is it (furry, anime, etc) and any particular race?
Humanoid alien synthetic intelligence.
3. What is the first thing your character would think of when he/she first wakes up?
“Wakes up”?
Imagine waking up and reflexively checking that you’re still breathing, your heart’s still beating correctly, your blood pressure is acceptable and your liver and kidneys are still processing blood, and you have the idea
4. Your character's favourite outfit would be?
I don’t know about favourite, but her usual one would be vaguely stylish, but overall functional. Typically some sort of plain shirt, plain skirt and choker necklace of some sort, and hair tied back in plaits or bunches.
5. When your character looks into a mirror, what's the first thing they would notice?
Her colour, and her dislike of the way it makes her stick out. As in, “Today is the day I go and buy hairdye” (although she never does).
6. Does your character have the same tastes in food as you?
No. She “eats” socially, but doesn’t actually “taste”. Her choice in foodstuff is usually dependent on what she requires to correct her electrolyte balance.
7. How is your character similar to you?
She’s similar in mindset, which I think is why she’s the one I feel “closest” too, and doesn’t like to just sit and do nothing, always has to be doing something.
8. How is he/she different?
Well, to START with she’s synthetic in nature, with all its accompanying benefits and problems.
9. If your character could speak, would they have the same voice as you?
…um, she can speak, and does quite a lot in my fiction.
I know, I know, that’s not what was meant, and the answer is probably not; she’d be slightly higher and finer, I’d imagine, although defining my own voice is fairly hard.
I can’t say I usually “hear” her when I’m in her shoes. At least, she doesn’t have a “robot-voice”.
10. If you were to suddenly become your character, what do you think would be the first thing you would do as them?
Insufficient data to make a judgement within given parameters.
Then I’d decide if it was a good thing (ie did it come with the whole package, like the rest of that galaxy) or a bad thing (like was it JUST that which had changed, in which case the next idea would be “ri-ight, better get on the phone to the dispensary now then…”) I’m thinking it’d be a bad thing, you know?
11. Is there something about your character that you don't like how others think of them?
I don’t think anyone has any misconceptions about her because not that many people know about her to start with, apart from the idea that she’s somehow cold or cruel or unfeeling, which is diametrically opposite.
12. What advantages does your character have over you?
Need you ask? Stronger, faster, a lot less easily distracted… blablabla. I mean, come on, computer for a brain? Mechanical body? Advanced and accurate sensory system? (And of course she’s smaller and cuter.) Need I say more? And people wonder why a couple of my characters have ego problems.
13. What disadvantages does your character have over you?
She’s fairly neurotic and emotionally naïve. And unfortunately fairly unique, which means there’s a lot of science bods that’d near on kill to get a good look of her insides; her official Coalition citizen status saves her from most of it on “our” side of the border, but the Kiravai don’t ascribe to Coalition values… did I mention neurotic?
14. Do you have any secrets relating to your character that only you know?
Oh, LOTSSSSSS, preciousss, yesss. But I’m not telling.
15. Do you have any secret drawings only you know about?
Well, I prefer to call them “not bothered scanning them because they’re really bad” rather than “secret”. And no, they’re not pornographic. Just bad.
16. Do you have any plans for your character or are you working on something big relating to her?
Plans, yes, if I ever get off my rump and start to write properly again. In the new year! (But I say that every year).
17. What misconception(s), if any, do people have about your character?
In the fiction, there’s the enduring idea that she’s some sort of high-class AI-enabled sex-doll. (Like a blow-up sex doll with more class). Elsewhere… well, I’ve been told she’s “heartless” and “a bit cruel”, but then this was from me talking about other characters who were “Mentally Dominant” at the time and the same set of values being ascribed to little Ivers, so it’s forgivable. (No being mean to Snowy, ya hear? Her delicate constitution won’t take it.
)
18. If you could have just ONE characteristic from your character, what would it be?
Un-scatterbrainedness. I would kill for her unswerving devotion to a project, sometimes.
19. Have you made any characters that go along with yours, based on real-life people, that have the same relationship with your character as you with the real-life person?
No. Plenty of characters to go along with her, but I don’t think I’ve ever based a character on “real life people”, because I just don’t – I come up with a name and a general premise and let the character develop how they want.
20. Have you written any stories about your character?
…is… this… a trick question…?
21. How has your character changed since his/her first creation?
Changed in species and in colour, a little (originally pale green, I think), but that’s about it. The rest of the changes are just natural progressions over time and as her story progresses.
Unrelated: Why is Napster so shit? I mean, let's face it; what's the point in my paying to download tracks, if a week or two later I get the message "that track is currently unavailable on the Napster service" *OR* "Upgrade to Premium for licence acquisition". EXCUSE ME, I DID MY DUTY to artist rights/copyright and BOUGHT those tracks, now stop trying to wring MORE money out of me, fucktards!
