Sporadic Dauntless-y update.

Been thinking about voices - not sure if I said so before - and which voice suits which character. Not got too many pinned down, but anyway... Lena is sweetly husky, rather soulful (the singer "Beverly Knight" always reminds me of Lena, although her voice is rather too high - or perhaps KT Tunstall).
James Morrison reminds me of Onyx.
The main singer for "Black Box Recorder" seems fitting for Ivy - although I've only heard one of their songs ("Facts of Life") and it may just be coincidence. And the name is eerily fitting. ;)
The only voice I ever considered for Ren was old whats-his-face, Star Wars jedi man... *thinks* Ewan McGregor. And NOT for the Jedi thing - but from when I saw him on Moulin Rouge. The voice was just right. Make of that what you will. :P

And... Working on a new profile for Vee.

So far...
Ivy is your stereotypical robot, in many ways – very naïve, and (mostly) trusting, almost to the point of complete innocence. She is interested in almost anything – science, popular culture, the arts… – and happy to try her hand at anything, at least the once!
She is happiest when talking about things that do not involve her – she will discuss politics, science, mathematics, the arts, even sport or gardening, so long as the conversation keeps away from discussing herself, something she has a fairly intense dislike of. (Mostly because any discussions usually involves either in-depth and intensely private questions about her capabilities and capacities (you wouldn’t ask anyone else what holding capacity their stomach had or the computing power of their brain, after all), random compliments based solely on the grounds of what she is (making her very uncomfortable), or else sexual demands, based on the assumption she is merely some sort of advanced sex-doll (which might even earn you a slap).)
She is also easily made uncomfortable when needing to talk emotional matters – mostly due to inexperience. Although she has the mental capacity of an adult, and an intelligence that outstrips most others, her emotional capacity is underdeveloped, leaving her vulnerable, and her emotions – when they show – tend to be fairly “raw”.
Ivy’s is a quest for acceptance – for who and not what she is. She wants to be liked as a person, not as an oddity, a curiosity, something briefly exciting, and wants any “demerits” to similarly be based on her as a person, not any ideas she is fake, simulated, “un-alive” etc. She has no desire to become anything other than what she is (for instance, she does not want to “become human”, to coin a phrase), and is usually fairly happy being who she is (although that’s not to say it doesn’t also cause its own fair share of “moments of crushing despair”). Above almost all else, she wants to have the same acceptance any biological being has “by birthright”, without having to fight tooth and nail to get it.
She is a gentle soul, the sort to gladly give all and anything to anyone that asks the right way, but her need for affection has led her into countless unsavoury situations she could have avoided
Latterly, she has become fairly “withdrawn” in nature (at least, that is how she “reads” to me); perhaps she’s just given up trying. Hers isn’t such an “emo” sort of sorrow, however – rather, a quiet, accepting melancholy. She is as smiling and as giving as normal, but… quieter, softer, everything edged with a slow, muted sadness.

omg, emo. :P

Some day I may post my notes on my Quick'n'Dirty Chicken Satay, but right now I don't have the energy.

Not very stereotypical to me. :3

All right, I suppose I should have first said WHICH stereotype I meant, since there seems to be two - the "OMG EVIL ROBOTS TAKE OVER THE WORLD" (the Terminator type) one and the Pinocchio-esque curious-innocent one (i.e. the (more famous) Star Trek type). :P I don't recall seeing too many others. ;)

Still, Ivy strikes me as more developed as a Pinocchio type of being, especially with her stance on wanting to be liked more for her personality than her synthetic nature (something that might screw with Danji on at least a subconscious level!).

Heh - in spite of the fact most of us here DO like nonbiological organisms to a large degree BECAUSE they're nonbiological. ;) (Which is kinda one thing that always bothers me a little - as in, if Ivy were real, would we be friends because of WHO she is, or partly because of my tendency to go for a kneejerk clutch for any Synthetica? ;) )

Yeah... see, we both have that jaw-dropping fetishy attraction for synthetic beings, which makes the character development of Ivy sort of bittersweet. Do you have any characters, other than Iios, who enjoy being liked for what they are as well as who they are?

Eh, to be honest they all do. ;) Azure uses it as an excuse to be "unladylike" and overprotective of her Chosen, and Sei is just... well, quite "zen" about it all. It's all just part and parcel of who they are - none have ever expressed a desire to be "more than they are" (read: become biological or schnizz like that), they just want "validation", I suppose. And "proof" would be a nice bonus to a few. (YOU try convincing a robot it's just as alive as a non-robot when you have no point of reference or hard proofs to give it. :P) But then, none of my characters have really been created as anything other than "alternative life forms", so I haven't really had the time to mull over the other side of the coin yet. *shrugs*

Not sure I mentioned it before, but as an aside I don't think I'd call it "fetishy" as that implies a sexual tone to it, and there's nothing like that to my interest - more of an inner "kick", like an adrenaline excitement, when I think about the concept. ;)

Ah, when I said "fetishy", I meant it outside of the connotation of sexual arousal. Yes, even when I'm not thinking about "naughty" stuff at all, it still gives me that unexplainable rush, that you and our other robophilic friends share.

So, how many nicknames does Ivory have?

Not sure if that's the robot stereotype - Though I'm not sure what the robot stereotype is, to be exact. Though she does seem to be on a quest for identity - an acknowledged one, at least. It feels as though she's the same as anything else among the living - save for being synth and all.

Now I just need to figure out how this ties into all your other "alternate reality" versions of her...

What's this about chicken?

"how many nicknames does Ivory have?"
- too many. :P Although usually Ivy or (lately) Vee.

"Alternate reality" versions = well, you can ignore them, for the most part. :P The "main" AU Ivy became rather embittered at the world instead of melancholic, but then I don't know where she is at the moment anyway, so go figure. Of the others, one is biological, so she's irrelevant, and one is a hulking great giant. (I don't usually see them as "canon" anyway, and ignore them all for the most part. ;) )

Re: the chicken thing:

...bok bok bok... *scratches in dirt*

Essentially, it's chicken stir-fry with soy-sauce and peanut butter. ;) It tastes a lot better than it sounds, but only if you like peanut butter, I suppose.

I enjoyed reading Ivy's new profile (in progress, I take it..I want to see more), and she does sound quite nice. It's too bad that we never seem to be on IM at the same time, since she's another I'd love to meet someday.
