Updated Good Morning Starshine a little - added some bits, changed some dialogue. Yes, it's all just notes right now, but gives a vague idea of the plot, I guess.

(PS if anyone wants to join that forum - post notes, pictures, whatever - feel free, I'm not going to be precious over it or anything. ;) )

Edit: So they've caught ALL the suspects accused of last week's bombings? AND the IRA have decided to disarm? Whatever you may think of the world, THAT makes me happy. :) There IS something left in the world to inspire a little hope.

Edit2: Lovely thought Firefox is, I've just noticed that it seems to keep on putting the wrong favicons on things. Like, I keep getting the devART icon for OWF, or the Photobucket icon for Spectrum HQ. BLAH.

Edit3: "Independence Day" on TV - funny how we can condone mass extinction just because the aliens are "bad", ne? Wouldn't have been such a good film if there'd been any sort of quibble that the aliens had had ANY redeeming features, I guess. I wonder if that'd happen in real life? One or two aliens (the only ones we speak to) say they want humans dead, so we cause extinction of their entire species in response? *ponders*

Just playing Devil's advocate, here, as the film is on - sat watching it and cheering (well, metaphorically) the "good guys" on, then thought "hm, aside from the fact that they'd kill us if we didn't, we're wiping out an entire species, here." ...Well, I was thinking that AND "my GOD does Brent Spiner over-act when he's not on Trek or what? *cringe*" Oh, and "WHY oh WHY can I not get BBC1 to tune in properly? *sob*"

Yeah. The aspect that most bothered me about ID4 (after the endorsement of suicide attacks) was the sheer racism/jingoism of it all. America saves the world! From a /planet/ of pure evil! War of the Worlds did it first, of course, but we should have grown up and moved on from the 1950's.

I can see why it was so under-written, though. C&C with the Starship Troopers movie, which uses the same plot devices, but with an awareness of its own subtext...

So I'm coming out of nowhere to make a belated comment :P I like the cut of your jib! Found you through the always-spiffy [livejournal.com profile] iguanaintrouble.
