...this morning was a bad one.
I was woken up at... four am? thereabouts anyway... by loud voices and banging car doors, went "gr wtf piss off". My mind "wandered" around in a sleepy haze for about ten minutes, trying to get back to sleep, when there were these two loud "BANG!"s. Brain was fully awake again, going "wtf was that? Fireworks or something?" Lay in bed staring at ceiling going "go back to sleep you won't worry if you're asleep go back to sleep".
...then I hear the engine. At first i think it may be a lorry or something, but no, It's a big, fire-engine-sounding engine (although I didn't hear the siren - maybe they didn't use it as it's not a house blaze? I don't know). Let's just say that as a pyrophobe you start to hear the thrum of pumps and stuff EVERYwhere. OHHHshit. There's another of those bangs, and finally I get up to see what's going on.
There's a car about a hundred yards away from my window, blazing like a bonfire. I'm guessing someone must have pinched it, joyridden it out here, and torched it when the police got onto them. The bangs were the tyres exploding. This is the THIRD FIRE in a three-hundred-yard radius of where I live in about a year now - first it was the bungalow on Foxhall Road corner (accidental or smoking, I think), then it was the Coplestone School (which was a case of arson*), and now this.
WHY CAN'T THEY DO IT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF IPSWICH? *cries*
...needless to say, my flatmate knew nothing about it. "Did you get woken up by that fire last night?"
"What fire?"
*offtopic, the Coplestone School fire really says something about the mentality of some teens. Apparently, the arsonist did it because (I think) his girlfriend's brother bullied him there.
...right. So... instead of taking it out against the BULLY, you take it out on the SCHOOL? That'd be like me taking a digger to Foxhall Road because the buses are usually not on time. :P
