Friday, 30 March 2007 01:18 pmAs I've been told I "criticise things too much", I have come to the conclusion that offering ANY advice is wasted, and that when people ask for "constructive criticism" all they EVER mean (with a few tiny exceptions) is "omg tell me how great I am."
So I'm giving up bothering expending my energy, I won't say anything other than "that's nice". And in response, if you don't like my art, if you don't like the writings I pour my heart and soul into, that's your prerogative, but I'm not changing any of it.

I felt like stamping my foot a bit.

Date: 30 Mar 2007 08:01 pm (UTC)This is why DeviantArt tried to enforce that little feature you can change so you either say you don't want crits or have advanced crits. I understand how fragile the ego of a budding artist or writer is (we were all there at one point) but I've learned that crits are not there to kick you down but to make you better. (I'm such a perfectionist with my work, if someone makes a crit of an already finished piece I'll just stare at the flaw until I just can't take it anymore and change it.)
And just so you know, I DO read your works. When I can concentrate. I need a printer for this computer, for some reason it's infinatly more easy to concentrate on printed word than words on a computer screen. I've been meaning to say this, but Iios reminds me of a character that has never seen the light of day lately, at least not the light of the Internet. Smarminess is so much fun to write, though!

Date: 31 Mar 2007 09:33 pm (UTC)Argh, now I look all ranty and stupidly emo, and I'm not. (That and right this second, I feel like I'm watching something like someone screaming "OMG YOU COPIED MY CHARACTOR GREEK HUSKIES ARE COPYRITE MEEE ©©©!!!eleventy1!" and it's annoying me.) I'm just... frustrated. I'm not going to demand that anyone reads anything I write, or look at any pictures, or anything, because frankly I really don't care that much any more. (If people want to read it, it's their prerogative, but I'm not going to scream about it.)
Argh.
