"Reluctant Goddess"

Playing around with ideas for a plot for “NaNoWriMo” this year.
This is Mirii, in the (unwilling) role of deity incarnate.
...which is not quite so wonderful as it may seem. The people who have decided she must be a goddess in mortal form actually EAT their “deity” (or at least, their "mortal incarnation") – every month, a new individual is chosen to embody the deity, and they are entitled to 9 days of pampering (the best wine, food, luxuries and slaves, and they can change the laws (within reason) as they see fit). When the moon is full, however, they are taken away and sacrificed, and the rest of the townsfolk eat the remains, thinking that it gives them something of the deity’s strength.
Most townsfolk see it as a high honour to be chosen as the deity’s vessel, and think that Mirii is happy to “bestow her blessing on them” since she's being compliant and not trying to run away. Mirii, on the other hand, who doesn’t understand them and they don’t understand her, has no idea what they plan on doing to her, and just thinks they're being nice...
Edit:

Blobbed on some quick marker/pencil colours, just to make it easier to visualise. Now to scribble down some of the other things, like the giant caterpillar beastie.
And yes, I’m still after ideas for plots.
