But OMG, what is this? Someone who works in pharmacy and can also draw? I too am a slave to the dispensary, and I’ve never met anyone with the same hobby.

They're not all in my vocabulary either (I had to look a load up) - but I've challenged myself to use them SENSIBLY and interweave them into a story, and... I have no idea how I'm ever going to use some of them. *le sob*

And ooh, you're pharmacy too? Hurrah! :D I thought my artly tendencies were just an abberrance - even at Uni, I didn't know anyone else arty. ¬_¬ I only know one other person at my work who is vaguely arty, and that's one of the technicians, who does scrapbooks and card-making. Are you community or hospital? :)

I work in community in-store pharmacy. But not Boots! =O Srs business. Though I want to move into different employment for a change, and hopefully somewhere that pays a lot better with a little less stress! Are you pre-reg or registered?

Everyone I’ve met in the profession has shown an interest in the fact that I can draw, but none of them can do more than a few squiggly faces themselves. I think it’s a passion that most find to be more of an “exotic curiosity!”

Been registered just over 2 years now. :) I did my pre-reg at the hospital, and just... never left. Doesn't pay as great as locum rates, but I like the diversity, and they let us loose on the wards to annoy the patients, joy! :)

I hear you about the "exotic curiosity". Seems to have been the same for me - with the obligatory "oh wow you should draw for {insert famous animation studio of choice here} you'd be great etc." *hruffs*

...and the fact that having any grounding in art is an irrelevance when most "animators" are expected to just recreate the same image over and over and over ad nauseum...

I’m 25. I just got accepted to do the MPharm after years of travelling and pondering what to do next while painting my life away. I rather fell into pharmacy than chose it, then stayed with it and somehow got qualified for dispensary. Decided not to waste the NVQs and A-levels and try out an application. I seriously thought getting accepted would be a lot harder. Instead it just sort of 'happened.'

But after all that I still don’t know if I have the nerve to the 4 years, and the pre-reg boredom, and the reg exam. What happened which made you re-take year one?

..."being really bad at taking exams" happened. XP My own fault entirely - I've never been good at exams - but I got through it and graduated in the end. And even *I* managed to pass the pre-reg exam, so it can't be THAT hard.

My four (well, five, but eh) years at Uni literally flew by - to be honest, it was starting at Uni that I "rediscovered" art in the first place - and the pre-reg isn't so bad if you get accepted into a good pre-reg course. And of course it pays pretty well - I managed to buy my own place and get a mortgage, last year. (My one gripe is that I don't have as much time to do MY things as I'd want, any more, now I'm on the on-call rota. :()
