New species!
They belong to the "imi" family (as in, like the "cat" family) and originate from a colder Kiravai colony world. Unlike cats, however, who are subdivided into "tiger" or "lion" or "caracal", these simply have a "descriptive suffix" added to the end of the family name, soo...
They are not a natural family, incidentally. Only one is wild-occurring, the others (of which there are two so far, and maybe more if I bother) are genetic augments.
Imi'sau - wild-type. ("sau" being "untamed beast" and everything...) They have long claws on their forepaws.
Imi'ee - the original pet. Small and weaselly in nature, with long, caracal-ish ears, short legs and long fur, and a sort of "moustache". The Kiravai use them as living stoles/neckwarmers/etc. ("ee" is a common affectionate diminutive; they add it to a lot of words referring to small, cute things.) These also lack the claws, instead having broad, soft feet and short nails.
Imi'sauri - a hardier, stronger variant. Larger and leggier, they're more of a "guard dog" - I have a doodle of these on devART. They are NOT good runners, as they have long "hands" and feet; they ARE stronger than they look, however, and have large teeth.
New words!
...well, one new word. "Nadere" - used to refer to junior officers and cadets in the Imperial Fleet. (Stems from the word nadir, "lowest point".)
And I've been thinking of getting a paid journal, which means I'll be wanting to do some moodicons. Aside from the little ones, on the bottoms of each post, I was pondering about the larger posticon things, and thought DuSkai would be a wicked choice. :) After all, changing colour with their moods/by conscious volition, and all that... yej! Plus, cuttlefish rock. (They've had another little tweak as well, by the way. The crest and/or horns are more mobile than they used to be.)
soo... quick birodoodle here, to explain what I mean. :)
