OMG 2009 starts with me being VISITED BY ALIENS omg.
Seriously, I was staring at these little glowy orange lights in the sky in the distance going "wtf?" They weren't flashing and booming like the fireworks, they weren't aeroplanes, I seriously could not identify them. They just moved very slowly and gracefully across the sky and gradually faded out. I was all "ooooh UFOS!"
Until!
Someone on the playing field outside my house lit one of those Thai Flying Candle Lantern things and it floated gracefully and flickerily and orangely off into the night sky and my brain went BUT OF COURSE! I saw them once before, on Guy Fawkes' night last year (lol, last year) and couldn't work out what they were then, either. So, mystery solved! They're now IFOs.
Although it would have been better if it had been aliens. Especially giant robot aliens.
