Freeeeeezing

Because I'm on-call, tonight, I cycled in to work on Whites this morning, and it must have been the coldest, frozenest morning of the year so far. (...I know, it's January, it's meant to be freezing, but we've had a ridiculously mild, nonthreatening winter so far this season.) I left the flat when it was still slightly dark, out, so the lights were on indoors and made it impossible to see how hard the frost was until you actually got outside.

I don't think I've ever been so cold when cycling that it made my ears hurt inside. It's not exactly a long trip - about 2.8 miles? - and I was just starting to warm up again by the time I got to Heath Road, but cycling down past B&Q was horrible. XD It felt like about -10, out.

Something HAS sort of gone wrong with the EADT weather forecast, though. Max temp 5C, min temp 6C? (Ignoring the fact that the world is going to cease to exist at midnight on Friday, because it's a "five day forecast" with no fifth day).

One good thing about the viciously cold mornings is that we've been having some beautiful sunrises, the last few days. I actually had my camera with me, for a change, and took a few photos when I was almost at work (and my fingers didn't feel like they were about to drop off).

	17th Jan 2012 Sunrise (1) Taken 07:30-ish am on 17/01/2012, on a hideously cold morning, frosty January morning. I'd had to cycle to work because I was on-call. There was a beautiful sunrise, though, and I just happened to have my camera to hand for once. This is looking out over Rushmere Heath, opposite the hospital.

	17th Jan 2012 Sunrise (3) Another photo of the sunrise; taken in the same place, but looking back down the road I've just cycled up (Heath Road). I love the colour of the sky in this one, it's so delicate.

	17th Jan 2012 Sunrise (6) Last one! This is looking back in the direction I've just walked; the block at the far right is the GAC. I was trying to get a photo of the mist that hung in the air. Millions of aeroplane trails. XD Those floating, glowing yellow orbs are aliens the lights on the zebra crossing, they came out weirdly bright.
