Going to do some selling on eBay (or trying to). Went through all my old books and stuff, and decided there's a lot I can stand to part with. Plus, of course, some of it may be "in vogue" at the moment, what with certain new series on the TV bringing certain old series back into the public eye... So I'm going to try sell them. If they don't sell, well, I can't say I'd be too distraught, but it's worth a go at least.

In other news, I'm getting on well with my "Ammut" picture - although I've chosen to change some of it very slightly, and do the border in real papyrus (mostly because I was an idiot and forgot to leave enough room to properly work the border on the paper I used, and when I stretched it to prevent cockling I went and lost even MORE border space. I'm just getting frustrated by how little time I'm getting to do it - or rather, how little time in good daylight, I'm not short of time otherwise. I've taken to taking it and my pencils to work and sitting in the hot-desking room in the top of the new department - nobody bothers going all the way up there, normally, aside from to use the photocopier (and there's another of those downstairs) so it's quiet, has plenty of work-space, and a convenient computer for the accessing of reference images. :) And it means I can make the most of my lunchtime sunshine. I hate trying to colour by synthetic light, as all my bulbs have a yellowish tinge and you can't see yellow pencil well. :P This is an update!

And lastly, I have another new species. :) They're called DuPhee (aka "cuttlepuppies") at the moment; from the same homeworld (now dubbed "Skai'i") as the DuSkai, and as they're domesticated they were one of the few species to escape when the invaders arrived. Just don't let a cuttlepuppy lick your hand if you want to keep all your skin; they have a radula, which basically means they have teeth on their tongue. Info and development here! (PS I like ideas. ;))

PS since starting to listen to this track at 1.142x speed, it sounds stupid and too-slow at normal speed. :P

Ammut is looking great so far Abs, I can't wait to see the finished pic :).

On mine I keep getting distracted with other projects...the latest one taking up my time is called 'Dragon in a Pumpkin Patch'. Yeah it's a halloween pic. ;)

Thanks. ;) I just wish it wasn't taking so long - I seem to be doing it in 30 minute chunks, and in between 30 minutes I forget what colours I've been using... *d'oh* Just spent most of this evening faux-ing up a sheet of watercolour board to look like papyrus, as the sheet of REAL papyrus I wanted to use was just a smidgen too small and I didn't want white spaces, then mounting the papyrus on top - sod's law says it'll be curled up and unusuable by morning.

So when do we get to see YOUR picture, then? ;)

Meh...I may break down and post a WIP version of what I have so far. I think part of my lack of motivation in working on it is because of how frikken slow PS is on my laptop (and it takes forever to open/save the file). Then again, it doesn't help that the silly thing only has 256 MB of RAM and PS being the memory hog it is. >

A double certain? Pity I don't get the reference, then. I really like what you've done with her head, it replicates a crocodile's so well.... They do sell light bulbs that give off light that is exactly white - they just cost more.
Of course, these DuPhee wouldn't have anything do with the cuttlefish pictures shown previously. Not in any way...

I'm not afraid of you, so go ahead. I'd be worried about your mental state though after reading what I write in there ;)

...double... certain...? *scratches head* What? And yeah, I know they do those daylight-sim bulbs, but at the moment I don't have anywhere for them - my "desk lamp" is actually one of those tall "halogen"-type ones with the little bulbs, and it stands behind the desk. My other light - the room light - it just dingy (it has a dark shade - NOT of my choosing) and crap.

"After researching cuttlefish (re: looking for cool pictures) to add to the DuSkai, I began thinking of having a species more cuttle-like. I mean, to be honest, I was debating making the DuSkai themselves more cuttle-like, but I rather like my little squid-bird-things, and I've got SOMETHING of an evolutionary history for them now... buut..."

As you had said; "Plus, of course, some of it may be 'in vogue' at the moment, what with certain new series on the TV bringing certain old series back into the public eye..."
The word "certain" appears twice in one sentence. Hence, a double certain. Though I have no idea what the "certain"'s you're referring to, are.

Ohh, never even noticed. I thought you were referring to Ammut and I read through the sentence twice to try and see where I'd written "doubly certain" and couldn't see it... ;) Nah, just some old books and comics I bought while I was at Uni, thinking "woo, may be expensive modern antiques some day!" and now don't really have a place to keep them, soo... go figure. Gerry Anderson ones, anyway - mixture of series. 1960s. Yay.
