Friday, 28 April 2006 10:26 pmPoint one: LJ, STOPgoddamn trying to restore my old drafts. If I WANTED to post the same thing twice over, I'd SAVE A COPY and REPOST IT, right? Thanks. *goes to hunt down the function to turn that off*
Point two: I may have mentioned it before, but this kind of thing scares me a little. "Otaku-kin" or WTFever it is they call themselves. There's people out there who believe they're somehow the reincarnate spirit of TV and game characters.
All I can say is that if someone came up to me going "OMG yeah I'm liek totally the reincarnate spirit of Ivy, u kno" I'd SLAP THEM SILLY. Outside of my head and my fiction, SHE AIN'T REAL. You can't be the reincarnated spirit of a FICTIONAL CHARACTER. Ditto on the species - no, Kiravai aren't real, I made them up, I cobbled together a lot of things I dug out of science journals and history books or just plain thought looked cool and BAM, there they were. There IS NO SPIRIT to reincarnate. There IS NO SPOON. I can cope with the otherkins, the furries, since although sure, a lot probably ARE fictional creatures, it's a totem, an allegory, a symbolic representation, for a lot of people. You might not be able to define it, but hey, it looks like a unicorn, so we'll call it that. But your INNER SEPHIROTH? Please.
Edit: Point three: Since when did "wanking" take on the new wholesome meaning of "blather on in pompously about a subject"? Bag of wank.

Date: 29 Apr 2006 02:17 am (UTC)I've seen some others use it in that sense. Wank(er) = bullshit (pouser).

Didn't even know that sort of thing existed until now. Scary....
And you can always just click the cancel button for the restore saved post thingy. That usually works.

Date: 29 Apr 2006 02:22 am (UTC)And yeah, you brought up the question of whether or not Synth have souls and all that. Hmm.
Seriously, it's funny who/what people think they are. I know one guy who totally believes he was once Beethoven. But that seems to be a semi-common one. They can't all be right. :>

Date: 29 Apr 2006 03:09 am (UTC)Namely, you're assuming a person can only have one reincarnation at a time...
And raising the nature of "souls" itself. Namely, are they tied to the individual? Is an idenity bound to a single soul? Do they have to reincarnate solely in the direction we believe time to pass?
If the answer is no, then it's possible the same soul can exist in more than one place at once. It might be rather dilute, but the possibility exists.
Though saying you're a video game character is quite dissillusional.
Though then we're limiting ourselves to reincarnations only of things within our scope of the universe....
Argh, I'm dangerous when I'm speculative. Anyway.
