Sunday, 4 June 2006 10:07 pmMini-update. I've re-uploaded all of RtA so far, excluding chapters one and two (which I'm obviously rewriting), since I don't THINK the rest of it will need too much exhaustive work doing on them (for an older work, I'm not too displeased with it). There's only a couple of chapters to go before I finish it, and I'm determined to get it DONE at last. Once I have stories finished, I have less of this persistent kneejerk to rewrite them. :P
"Ride the Avocet" - the story so far
@ Aegis: I took some of your advice, and got rid of a bit of the wordiness of the first bit. I'm still not there, I don't think, but it might flow a bit better. Histories and such can come out more gradually. :P
In an unrelated incident, I just had the WORST (or maybe best, if your definition is "most humorous for being total tosspots") phishing email EVER. For one, they didn't turn on their html, so I got ALL the code. For two, this completely revealed that the link supposedly going to "http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_login-run" actually went to "http://paynucadeaducupdassert.again.at/". So if anyone actually goes TO that site to "update their Paypal details" they deserve all they get. :P *reports it to Paypal anyway*
On another unrelated matter, Doctor Who the other night was quite cool. :) Although I was a little disappointed when the one who "has woken" turned out to be a variant of "Satan" and not Cthulhu. :P I was holding out hope it might be one of the Great Old Ones (especially as the Ood looked so starspawn-esque) and the writing was described as so old the TARDIS couldn't translate it, but meh, no Great Old One, just Satan.
Edit: I'm seeing a theme developing here. Sligs off Oddworld, Sammael from Hellboy (who made me shriek like such a little fangirl. :P), cephalopoids in all their various forms... Cthulhu... Mrf. (I'm sure He wouldn't have approved. But then, I always reserve the right to revise my opinion - these things are terrifing! Think of the worst thing furries could do to Cthulhu, then put that through the eyes of a stuffed-toy maker...)

Date: 5 Jun 2006 07:13 am (UTC)Didn't know you knew of mythos. Now if only I could remember exactly what was Yog-Shoggoth... something involving gates, I think.
Dr. Who's on the tenth season over there, isn't it? I'm lucky to have gotten to see the ninth - I get the finale of it sometime next week. If nothing else, I can see why you like Daleks so much now. And how to prounounce "EX-TER-MIN-ATE".
Should I wait until Chapters 1 and 2 are back up before reading the rest of Avocet?

I don't think the revised chapters 1 and 2 will make a massive amount of difference, aside from to explain some of the things that went unexplained in the first draft. ;P Chapter three was always where it properly STARTED - you think the NEW version of 1 jumped all over the place, you should have seen the OLD one, it bore almost no resemblance to the plot at ALL and added... well, nothing to it, really. :P So go figure.

Hm. So if the first two chapters had no relevance, why not just start with the third? Or do the first two make for a more proper introduction?
Maybe it's just a matter of formality.
