S'funny, I've discovered that Kiravai with short "hair" look rather pleasant. ...so poor Naiiri, who's going to be lumbered with bristles from now on. :P It's odd, she's one of the very gentlest and sweet-natured of my characters - she breaks the mould in a lot of ways - and the poor thing is really getting it in the neck at the moment. :(
Edit:

Her feathers have been "genemarked" (CGT) since her fall from grace, so they remain short and stubby - it was the only way they'd let her keep her ears, since NO "real" pens will tolerate having such short feathers (far too masculine) - and since she leaves Imperial space, there's no way to put them back to how they were. I'm thinking she might go in for wigs and hats and jewellery, later.
...why is it always the deserving ones go without partners? :(

So who exactly is this Naiiri anyway, in terms of her role in Dauntless and such?

Date: 6 Sep 2006 07:34 am (UTC)Naiiri is more of a "bit part" - she features relatively heavily in early stories, travels with the ship for a little while, then takes up a "professorial" (I know that's not a real word but it's too early to think up the actual word I want) post at the Ondran Institute of Fertility and Genetics and drops back to the background.
