Urgh. It's going to be another of those crappy on-calls where I seem to be sitting twiddling my thumbs for hours waiting for wards to get off their afts and send stuff down. *is missing all the beautiful sunshine and warmness outside. :(* And it's lovely out there - really spring-y and warm. Took me 45 minutes to do the 2.6 miles from home to work.
And, AND. I have just had a really WEIRD one. Doctors want to give a woman tamsulosin for renal colic. OK, fair enough, except...
"Tamsulosin is an alpha1-adrenoceptor blocker with actions similar to those of prazosin; it is reported to be more selective for the alpha1A-adrenoceptor subtype, which accounts for about 70% of the α1 adrenoceptors in the prostate."
Ward: "HI ON CALL We need some tamsulosin for Mrs.-"
Me: "Wait wait what? Mrs? Has she spontaneously grown a prostate, or what? *blinkblink*"
...OK, to be fair, I do have recollections of it being used to reduce smooth muscle spasm in the ureter and make stones easier to pass - and I'll check on DrugDex in a minute - but it's a good one to blindside the on-call with. ;)
Oh well. Drunken Sideswipe has sooomehow managed to find a way to call drunk!Warp a retard without him overreacting, and the kids want to give Ama some flowers for Mothers' Day, so gehhhh. (Lucy says "sweeties!" but then I think she wants to help eat them. ¬_¬)
And (thankfully!) my Mum's flowers got delivered to her about 10 minutes ago (she just texted me). I was kinda sweating a bit as she'd not said she'd got them yet, and the last time I ordered flowers for her they turned up the next day, which made me RAEG.
