And now... she is done. Those hieroglyphics took me forever to FIND, and an eternity to copy out. *bleh*

Well, I say "she's finished", I'm going to have to physically mount the two together and scan as one, because although I KNOW the image itself fits into the border, my computer said "Oh, it DOES, does it? We'll see about that..."

Edit: And I've just realised I've not matted in the lotuses in the top corner, either, bah. But she's nearly done!

Anyway. Voila. :)

Great of Death.

Damn.

Can I buy a print of this when it's done, and how much?

I do have to say, the hieroglyphics don't blend into the central picture that well. Though I like the angry hippo on the side, and the goat arm rest.

Do the hieroglyphics actually say anything, by the way?

Thanks ;)

Prints - depends on what happens with the "Beasts of Yore" portfolio that this is part of, as I'm not going to release it until THAT's out, which may in turn depend on which Con it's released in. I need to look into how to sell prints, anyway - may go through CafePress, or something.

I think the reason the picture and glyphs don't blend too well is that I matted them together on my PC, and not very well - the images fit together well in real life but I could NOT get it to work with the scans.

The hieroglyphics say... *gets out her reference book*:
"Hail, Long of Strides, who comest forth from Anu, I have not committed sin.
Hail, Eater of Shades, who comest forth from Qernet, I have not slain men and women.
Hail, Stinking Face (?I think), who comest forth from Restau, I have not stolen grain.
Hail, He whose face is behind him, who comest forth from they cavern, I have made none to weep.
Hail, Fiery-foot, who comest forth from the night, I have not attacked any man.
Hail, Sertiu, who comest forth from Anu, I have not been angry without just cause.
Hail, Her-uru, who comest forth from nehatu, I have terrorised none.
Hail, Orderer of Speech, who comest forth from Urit, I have not been wroth.
Hail, Nekhenu, who comest forth from Heqat, I have not shut my ears to the words of truth.
Hail, Bringer of his offering, who comest forth from Sais, I am not a man of violence.
Hail, Lord of Faces, who comest forth from Netchfet, I have not acted with undue haste.
Hail, Lord of Horns, who comest forth from Sauti-" then I ran out of room. :P

(They names don't all have translations, and not all of the "I have not"-s match up in all the translations I've seen, but it's close enough. :P There is one whose name translates to Babe, though - I think it was "Nekhenu" but it was spelt slightly differently), which amused me. :D "Hail, Babe...")

Don't know why it took me so long to see it, but that's a fox in the box under the words "Ammut", isn't it? Your signature, or such?

Hm. So the glyphs are pronouncements to the Greats, or gods, or such, speaking of the untaintedness of the speaker, as a final judgement/review of sorts? I am sorta confused...

That's my signature in the cartouche (Well, sort of, it says something like "Ah-bgl Sct 2006", since the Egyptians didn't much care for vowels :P), hence the fox. ;)

Yes, the Negative Confession/Declaration of Innocence was something the deceased was supposed to say in the Hall of Judgement - if s/he was telling the truth, the heart would balance the feather (the symbol of truth, not a real feather) and he could pass into the fields of the blessed. If he was lying, Ammut ate the heart. :)

Yes, I HAVE forgotten my password again. :P

HOLY... O_O

I was going to ask why you hadn't posted art for a while... DAMN, I didn't realize you could produce this much detail! I didn't know that you could do reptilian beings that well, either.

He's rather good looking, too. :D

She. ;) Observe the boobage.

Thanks, though. :) I've not had that much time to do anything aside from scribbles, lately, but once I've got my certificate course stuff out of the way I'm hoping to get back into it. :)

Bah, I noticed it was female after I made the comment. Silly me. :p

But, hey, now you've shown that you can definitely do reptilian beings, so hopefully that means you'll be able to figure out Zardios' snout before too long. Take your time, of course, since you are doing it for free. :)
