My subconscious seems to have thought it would be better to finish off Iios's brother's profile instead of doing Ivy's, so go figure.

Sei
Names:
“Sei” (Which comes out more “Seh” in Ve-hei’ya, but non-Kiravai simply pronounce “Say”) is the Kiravai word for “the black oilstone” – but although his name translates TO the equivalent of “coal”, he only ever goes by Sei.
Appearance:
Because they were crafted from the same basic “mould”, Sei and Iios are closely matched – build, attributes, abilities (emotionally, they could hardly be more different, but more on that later). Physically, Sei is almost identical to his older “brother”, Iios; he differs only in hairstyle (instead having a cob’s traditional feather mane), tail (he has kept his, where Iios has not) and colouration. With regard to this latter aspect, Sei is radically different; he is an intense, inky, velvet black all over, darker than any Kiravai could be naturally, (or even with genetic therapy – Lii’s CGT has made him a very dark brown, but not this dark). If light catches him in a certain way, however, it is possible to catch a soft greenish or purplish iridescence on his skin, like the colours of oil on water. His feathers are dark green, and edged with brighter shades of green, cyan and lilac, and his tailfeathers – traditionally long, where Iios keeps his plucked to keep them out of the way – have “peacock eyes” at the tips of the central three.
In terms of capabilities he and Iios are nearly identically matched; they have yet had cause to test the theory. :P
Persona:
Of all his kind, Sei is probably the calmest so far. Mentally and emotionally, he is Iios’ mirror; where Iios is extreme, Sei is moderate and minimal. Where Iios runs hot, Sei is cool and gentile. He was gifted with a similar emotional capacity to Iios’, but where Iios is quick and happy to let himself become carried away in the extremes of his mercurial nature, Sei is the “zen” sort. He is quiet and demure, often smiling but rarely outright laughing, pragmatic and thoughtful, and although certainly capable of anger, he shows it so rarely most merely assume he is incapable of any emotion at all. His capacity for reason is simply good enough that he can logic-out most problems, and rarely needs to get angry.
Like his “brother”, Sei shows something of the same superiority complex, although not to anything like the degree Iios is becoming infamous for (his is more of a “well, I AM better, the evidence all confirms it, but I won’t hold it against you…”). This is unfortunately mostly to do with their “species” – 99% of all Kiravai see Synth as something of a “pinnacle of evolution”, and it is difficult not to be at very minimum influenced by this. (Indeed, of all “Kirasiinu” only Azure doesn’t share this trait, and then only because the bulk of her cognitive programming was done by Ivy.)
Brief history:
Sei is Iios’ “brother”; designed by the same individual and using the same technological schema, but built by him alone, rather than the team of technicians who were in change of Iios’ construction.
After the semi-success of Iios, and the way he had objected in a very outspoken way to his “son” being snatched away and thrust into a job without his psychological construction being completed, Imanu recognised his social position was sorely in doubt. Not only would his expertise be in demand – and probably by those in whose ‘employment’ he would not enjoy being – but his outspoken behaviour had made him unpopular with the cybernetics corporations.
As such was forced to choose between becoming a “political prisoner” or going into hiding. Knowing the former would mean being held captive for exaggerated or falsified crimes in order for his Dominae to continue to make use of his knowledge and expertise, there was really only one option for the old cob to take. Although he loved his people as much as anyone, he took a new name, calling himself Raami, and a new identity, and like his “son” he went into hiding.
He created Sei in the first instance with the hope that the younger Synth would find his “sibling” and at least offer repairs – to the supposed “damaged” cortex, the extreme behaviour. He created Sei also, however, as a personal vindication – to prove that he was neither too old nor too senile to accomplish the “impossible” and single-handedly create an emotionally, cognitively and physically stable synthetic organism.
Where Iios was taken from his “family” almost at the instant of his “birth”, the completion of his construction, there was no risk of this happening with Sei, and Imanu was determined not to make the same mistakes with Sei as he did with Iios. Where Iios was taken away and “employed”, Imanu invested many thousands of hours in tuition – not merely teaching him tangible and scientific things but also instructing him in morality, social conscience, ethics and the basics of right and wrong. It is debatable as to whether Iios would have turned out similarly had he been given this essential instruction, but it did its job with Sei.
First met in: So far Sei has been an exclusively “roleplay”-related character; he does not yet exist in the “true” Dauntless universe.

I'll get Ivy finished SOMEtime. Along with Azure, and Ren, and Lena, and Ral and Ito Stargazer, and... Geh.
